Advanced Training in Commercial Mediation

The 20-hour Advanced Training Programme in Commercial Mediation by AKKED – PROμηθεας was created by Eleni Plessa and Eirini Matsouka, co-founders of RESOLVE MEDIATORS, Attorneys-at-Law, Accredited Mediators, and Mediator Trainers. It is based on their extensive, multi-year experience as commercial mediators and as lawyers handling both advisory and litigation cases in commercial matters.

Trainers

The Training Programme was created and is delivered by Eleni Plessa and Eirini Matsouka, co-founders of RESOLVE MEDIATORS, drawing upon their 17 years of uninterrupted experience in the field of Mediation in Greece and internationally, as well as their 25 years of experience in the Legal Profession with a strong focus on commercial disputes and the business environment.

Objectives of the Training Programme

Commercial Mediation is playing an increasingly central role in the business reality and is approached as a tool for the direct and effective resolution of commercial disputes. Among other things, the negotiation process within Mediation aligns with the market and the particularities of the business environment.

Recognizing its value, the legislator has placed it at the core of the new Alternative Dispute Resolution Code, incorporating, among other things, even more commercial disputes into the Introductory Mediation Session (formerly Initial Mediation Session – IMS), reinforcing the essence of the Mediation Clause in contracts, and institutionalizing Institutional Commercial Mediation.

Advanced training for mediators in Commercial Mediation is more crucial today than ever before. The further dissemination of Mediation, its integration into everyday business life, and its establishment as the primary reflex for dispute resolution will advance further and be reinforced with the contribution of specially trained Commercial Mediators.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING PROGRAMME ARE:
  • To provide, as a theoretical foundation, the opportunity to delve into the new legislative framework through practice, theory, and jurisprudence.

  • To foster a deeper and substantive understanding of the modern business environment in Greece and globally.

  • To focus trainees’ attention on designing each process according to the specific circumstances prevailing in relation to the participating parties, with particular emphasis on research and their preparation as mediators.

  • To provide case studies from the entire spectrum of commercial cases (contract law, overdue receivables, partner disputes, intellectual property, etc.).

  • To assist in the further development of trainees’ skills (questioning techniques, handling deadlocks in mediation, mediating with difficult personalities, etc.).

  • To provide all trainees with the opportunity to participate in simulations and various experiential exercises, receiving individualized feedback on their participation.

  • To enable trainees to further develop professionally in their role as mediators.
